Ascend Counselling and Coaching
We believe that every person has the potential and inner resources to make changes and live a meaningful fulfilled life.
How we do it?
We work in a holistic, collaborative and relational way because in our core we are rational, emotional, behavioural and spiritual persons.
My Approach
My approach to counselling and psychotherapy is integrative and collaborative. I use current evidence-based counselling theories and practices such as Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, The Gottman Method and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. These are helpful for individual therapy, couple counselling, and personal and relationship trauma. Other methods and practices include Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution Focussed Brief Therapy.
I compassionately endeavour to utilise the best method to the issues and challenges presented by my clients, as no one method or practice fits everyone.
I have a deep interest and am a specialist in Couples Counselling in which I have developed my skills and innovative approach over the last 32 years. In particular these include couples and clients undergoing relationship difficulties, separation, divorce, family court challenges, parenting challenges, post-separation parenting, grief and trauma of the loss of relationships. I have devoted my life to pursuing excellence in being able to help others find meaning in their lives through dealing with the challenges they are facing.
What to expect from a counselling session?
After an initial introductory session, it usually takes between 6 to 10 sessions to truly explore the concerns and issues raised and to develop a range of solutions and possible interventions. Each session lasts for an hour, at the end of which the client is asked for their feedback on how the session went and the direction they would like to take for future sessions. The need to extend counselling sessions is made after a review of our progress together. If there is a particular need that the client or myself are not able to address, I have access to a wide network of Counselling and Mental Health Professionals to whom I can refer clients on to.
