What to expect from a counselling session?

After an initial introductory session, it usually takes between 6 to 10 sessions to truly explore the concerns and issues raised and to develop a range of solutions and possible interventions. Each session lasts for an hour, at the end of which the client is asked for their feedback on how the session went and the direction they would like to take for future sessions. The need to extend counselling sessions is made after a review our progress together. If there is a particular need that the client or myself are not able to address, I have access to a wide network of Counselling and Mental Health Professionals to whom I can refer clients on to.

Please note: This is NOT an emergency service. For Western Australian mental health emergencies contact Mental Health Emergency Response Line: 1300 555 788 or attend the nearest Emergency Department of a hospital. Alternatively contact Lifeline: 13 11 14.

Testimonials

"I became aware of the triggers to my frustration and destructive anger by exploring the hurts, disappointments and rejections from my past relationships. I learned skills to take a time out and breathing exercises to regulate my emotions before an escalation of conflict."
Dan
"We sought couple counselling as a last attempt to save our marriage and Rama helped us to understand our negative interactional patterns of our disagreements. We learned to break the cycle and skills of intimate and heartfelt connection and communication daily."
Jenny and Michael
"I discovered through Rama’s gentle and compassionate exploration of the hurt and pain of my parent’s divorce when I was 7 that has led to my relationship failures. I got in touch with my grief from the past and that led me to make the shifts I needed to be confident in my relationship choices."
