Relationship Counselling
Relationship difficulties can lead to enormous pain and distress where partners can feel frustrated, helpless and hopeless. Couples who have been constantly arguing may tend to withdraw from each other and be caught up and stuck in an escalating vicious cycle of blaming, defending and not communicating at all with each other. Relationship counselling can help a couple to identify and become aware of their interactional patterns and the triggers underlying their reactions to each other. By providing a safe and non-judgemental space, this encourages the exploration and expression of key emotions that each person feels may be the source of their relationship conflict and difficulties. This can provide understanding, healing and connection and develops compassion and empathy for the pain and experiences of each partner. In each session, effective practical skills of communicating and expressing one’s wants and needs together with ways to de-escalate arguments are explained and practised. Other areas of relationship counselling that we can work with are rebuilding trust after extra-marital affairs, commitment issues, intimacy, affection, building heart felt communication and lasting intimate connection.
Individual Counselling
My experience from counselling has taught me that a current or sudden unexpected event, crisis or trauma in an individual’s life can cause distress, anxiety and depression. When the person’s coping strategies and resources are exhausted it may leave a person motionless and helpless. The counselling that I provide individuals is for: Anxiety, Addictions, Anger Management, Depression, Grief and Loss, Separation and Divorce, Domestic Abuse, Stress and Burnout, Survivors of Domestic Abuse, Trauma, Sexuality and Sexual Identity
Coaching
Coaching empowers clients to help themselves achieve goals, overcome obstacles and make practical changes in their lives. We work collaboratively with our clients knowing that each person has the answers to create lasting change and new habits and behaviours within themselves. As a coach I can help my clients to find new perspectives, develop options and find answers to the goals, problems and questions they respectively may be struggling with. Areas of coaching may involve the following: building confidence and self-esteem, embarking on a career change, practising intentional self-care, balancing work and family commitments, dealing with conflict and adjusting to change, personal habit growth, overcoming a lack of motivation and finding purpose in life and relationships.
